CTAM Board Elects 2011 Officers and Directors

Mobilizes to Hyper-Focus on National Programs

(New Orleans, LA – October 19, 2010) During its Board meeting today, The Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) elected new Board members and officers, and adopted a going-forward strategy focused on the organization’s highly successful national programs and cooperative marketing initiatives. Those include the Cable Mover programs, Advanced Cable Solutions Consortium, MoviesOnDemand® marketing, Business Services Council, CTAM Summit, CTAM Wired Executive Innovation Series, CTAM U. and consumer research.

The 2011 CTAM Board officers are:

  • Chair – Sam Howe, executive vice president & chief marketing officer, Time Warner Cable

  • Vice Chair – Eric Kessler, co-president, HBO

  • Secretary – Wonya Lucas, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Discovery Channel

  • Treasurer – Jon Hargis, evp, marketing and advertising, Cablevision Systems Corp.

The new 2011 directors are:

  • Heather Baldino, senior vice president, marketing, Turner Broadcasting

  • Steve Colafrancesco, vp, marketing, Bright House Networks

  • Jennifer Danger, evp, distribution and business development, The Weather Channel Companies

  • Jerry Dow, chief marketing and sales officer, Suddenlink Communications

  • David Preschlack, evp, affiliate sales and marketing, Disney & ESPN Media Networks

“I’m honored to chair an organization that is helping cable set the pace in this hypercompetitive environment,” said Sam Howe, incoming CTAM chair. “I look forward to working with such smart and experienced leaders to build on our past success and seize new opportunities.”

Regarding program developments, the CTAM Board set in motion the following actions, to take place over the next two years:

  • Re-charter the Network Consumer Marketing Council to more deeply engage participating executives in developing high-level content for national programs, such as the CTAM Summit and CTAM Wired.

  • Phase out support of U.S. regional CTAM chapters by the end of 2011. Chapters are separate legal entities that license the CTAM name and brand.

  • Retire the Telephone Working Group following a successful achievement of their objectives, including contributing toward the growth of the cable landline telephone business.

  • Move the CTAM Research & Insights Conference from the spring to the fall Cable connection, beginning in 2012.
